Rebecca Perry
After working for a few flower shops between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, I decided venture out on my own. In 1994, my mom, Katherine Williams and I opened our own shop on Pier Ave in beautiful Hermosa Beach. My roots in floral design stem from a passion for the arts. I grew up loving the incredible garden that was just outside my bedroom window. My mom was an avid and talented gardener. For as long as I can remember I was able to walk out into the yard pick sweet peas, hydrangea, camellias and an assortment of whatever else suited her fancy that season. A vase of fresh flowers were always in my bedroom. While in college in Santa Barbara I was fortunate to work at a flower stand where I learned basic components of floral design. In my early years in the floral industry I worked with and learned from many talented designers, but mainly I am self-taught. My experience gave me a foundation to develop my own style and aesthetic for floral design. My creativity comes from a background in the arts that includes ceramics, glass blowing, painting and most recently water color painting with my mother.. We absolutely love the process of building a floral arrangement. Beginning with selecting the freshest flowers at the flower market, relish the process of arranging different textures and color palettes. It is always helpful and appreciated when a customer gives a bit of guidance. If a customer shares the message they want the flowers to convey that becomes the spark of our creative process. One of the reoccurring compliments we get is how we are able to express exactly what a customer was trying to attain through our floral designs. Throughout the years, we have been graced with the honor of watching relationships blossom from the bouquets for dates, flowers and decor to adorn weddings, and arrangements to celebrate children being born. Now, we are creating corsages for those same children for proms and dances, and, as time moves on, weddings. It is a pleasure and an honor to be part of these special moments in peoples’ lives and to be part of such a wonderful community. After close to 30 years as a retail establishment we are now operating as a home based floral studio. We are still creating & delivering our unique floral designs throughout the greater South Bay area. We feel so blessed to be able to do what we love for a living and are grateful for the loyalty and support of our long time clients. At Lily Pad, our commitment is to make every bouquet and arrangement as special as our clients.About Lily Pad Floral Design
